Storage
Documentation » Storage volumes
All the CERIT-SC computing nodes provide three types of storage volumes, which are available for users:
/scratch- fast filesystem (having the storage capacity of about 8 TB), dedicated for applications' temporal/working data. This volume is local on every computing node, provides a basic protection against HW failures (RAID 10) and isnot backed up./home- shared filesystem dedicated for users' homes. The volume (with the temporal capacity of 6 TB) is accessible from all the CERIT-SC frontends as well as from all the CERIT-SC computing nodes.
Unfortunately, the tendered disc array (with the intended capacity of 250 TB) didn't pass the acceptance tests and thus had to be returned back to its supplier. Hence, the current /home volume is temporal until a new disc array becomes tendered. All the user data will be migrated to the new storage, once the new tender process finishes..
The /home volume is not backed up.
/storage- MetaCentrum's shared and backed-up NFSv4 volume with the capacity of about 100 TB (available from the frontend as well as all the computing nodes)
The structure of user home directories is as follows:
/scratch/<username>/home/<username>/storage/home/<username>
Backup policy of the /home volume
The /home volume is proof against an accidental failure of any of its hard drives. For long-term data protection or a protection of crucial data, please, store your data in the MetaCentrum's backed-up NFSv4 volume (/storage) - for further information about its backup policy, let us refer you to MetaCentrum site.
